Service & leadership
Helping People, Directly
Teaching, friendship, advocacy, and community involvement are central to the work I choose. I believe everyone has something to teach and something to learn, and that meaningful service begins with listening.

WLTL award record ↗Head Tutor · August 2024 – May 2025
First Generation Investors, Duke University
As Head Tutor, I helped high school students build financial knowledge and confidence through a financial literacy program focused on long-term investing.
- Led lessons on stocks, compound interest, diversification, mutual funds and ETFs, and dollar-cost averaging, breaking unfamiliar concepts into approachable explanations.
- Adapted instruction and tracked progress to help students stay engaged, understand the material, and work toward completing the curriculum.
How the Program Works
FGI’s eight-session curriculum combines interactive lessons, small-group review, and a capstone project. Eligible students receive $100 to invest in selected mutual funds, connecting classroom concepts with real investments. Students can claim their holdings after completing program requirements, graduating high school, and turning 18.
President & Friendship Advisor · Community involvement since 2022
Best Buddies & Unified Special Olympics
- Revived my high school Best Buddies chapter, expanding membership by 500%, doubling the budget, and helping manage 80 volunteers.
- Continue friendship-based programming and inclusive community engagement at Duke. Best Buddies matters to me because the relationships are reciprocal: we learn from one another through time spent together.
- Coordinate Best Buddies and Special Olympics programming for 100+ athletes and 25 families. Through Unified Special Olympics, I help create opportunities for athletes and student partners to play, compete, and build friendships together.
Volunteer · May–August 2025
Capital Hospice & Palliative Care
- Provided companionship and emotional support to hospice patients and families through end-of-life care. Much of that work was conversation: listening, spending time together, and being present.
Hospice reinforced that helping someone does not always mean fixing a problem. Sometimes it means taking the time to understand them. I carry that patience and attention into teamwork, stakeholder conversations, and the way I approach design.
