Organ Donation Campaign

Turning a student-led idea into a coordinated education and registration initiative.

Organ donation education campaign cover

Brief

Make organ and tissue donation easier to understand and help students and community members learn how to register.

My role

Campaign founder, organizer, and advocate

Approach

Radio outreach, educational materials, fundraising, and stakeholder partnerships

Result

$2,000 raised; expansion to 50+ schools; three national IBS award nominations

Building the Campaign

I partnered with WLTL to create an Organ Donor Registry Drive, using radio and self-designed bracelets and pamphlets to share information with thousands of community members. I raised $2,000 to support the initiative and developed relationships that could extend its reach.

Partnerships & Execution

I partnered with Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias to expand the program to more than 50 schools.

On April 25, 2024, the Secretary of State and Life Goes On team joined me at Lyons Township for a registration event. Dozens of students registered during the event.

The work required initiative, clear communication, stakeholder coordination, and a practical plan for moving from awareness to participation.

Continuing the Work

At Duke, I founded a SODA chapter and recruited 20 members for peer-to-peer education and registration. The goal was to build a program others could carry forward.

Recognition

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System nominated the campaign for three national awards. I also received an Illinois Certificate of Service.
